I completed The River City Hen course in June 2020.  I couldn't wait to build my coop, pick up my girls & start my life as an urban farmer.  However, I soon realized it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought.
 
   1.  I couldn't find an online coop purchase that was insulated to withstand our winter climate or built to comply with City bylaw.

        The online, prefab coops were not insulated and much smaller than appeared.

   2.  ​​I couldn't find a builder with urban coop, bylaw compliant building experience.
   3.  I couldn't afford the expensive "out of my budget" quotes from builders.  So, I have created options for you to work within your                budget.  If you don't see the option you want, let us know.....we are here to work with you. 

Raising my hens over the past year has been joyful, challenging & sad.  

These are the realities of raising & caring for back yard hens and this is why I will NEVER compromise our superior QUALITY coops.  

My coops & runs are hand built by an award winning home builder; similar in construction to a small "HOUSE".  

Fully insulated to keep your girls warm & draft free during our northern winters, adjustable ventilation & predator proof wiring.

Ed was Vice President of Construction with one of Edmonton’s largest home builders.  During these years he managed construction, quality control and the service department.   The builder went on to win many Customer Choice Awards under his direction.
