FUN CHICKEN FACTS.....Did you know???

  • The Bloom:  Freshly laid, unwashed eggs are covered with a protective "Bloom".  This Bloom seals the tiny pours in the egg shell protecting the chick during development.  Unwashed freshly laid eggs are safe at room temperature for approx 2-4 weeks while store purchased eggs are prewashed requiring refrigeration 

  • Chickens internal core temperature is 40.6 - 41.7 C  much higher than humans.  Each chicken emits 10 watts of heat, a flock of six equals a 60 watt bulb
